A Cultural Design Narrative: Sheen

In our journey so far we’ve come across some amazing individuals and even more incredible artists, much like one of our current favourite jewellery brands; Sheen.

When we first started Amanqi, one of our aims was to find the coolest design talent and contemporary brands which resonated with us. We were (and still are) looking for labels with exciting back stories & innovative concepts that instantly captured our attention. In our journey so far we’ve come across some amazing individuals and even more incredible artists, much like one of our current favourite jewellery brands; Sheen.

Established by Saudi-born, Kashmiri designer Nosheen Bakhsh, Sheen was created with the notion to combine Nosheen’s passion for jewellery whilst simultaneously making a humanitarian difference. Completely produced using local Emirati talent, the Sheen collection not only celebrates craftsmanship, but a percentage of the sales are also donated to the UNHCR, raising awareness for a cause which Nosheen truly believes in (Jewellery for a greater cause – we couldn’t be more excited!).

In many ways, Sheen is the perfect example of how fashion & design can be used as a medium to not only express individual creativity, but also create a narrative for a greater mission and cause.

Introducing the brand with her debut collection ‘Aisha‘, Nosheen is paying a tribute to her Kashmiri heritage; in particular to her grandmother. Floral motifs & intricate detailing form the basis of earrings, bracelets & rings which use the traditional lotus flower as a source of inspiration. The soft, elegant demeanour of each piece is easy to wear, all whilst maintaining a striking appeal.
