Emilio de la Morena: The Return of The Strong Woman

Last month at London Fashion Week we had the opportunity to attend some incredible runway shows and witness the talent of some incredible design maestros (it was almost impossible to choose favourites). Amongst the indigenous designers, one show that truly resonated with us was Emilio de la Morena.

Amongst the indigenous designers, one show that truly resonated with us was Emilio de la Morena.

For his latest AW18 collection, the London-based designer drew inspiration from the iconic & radical 1983 musical ‘Yentl’; bringing together the musical’s take on gender fluidity with the designer’s Iberian aesthetic. The musical, famous for challenging the social norms, has been channelled in the form of sharp tailoring (think strong padded shoulders, clinched waists & single-breasted jackets) and hints of vibrant hues (a splash of statement emerald, fuchsia, teal & turquoise) in the otherwise monochrome colour palette of ivory & black. Adding a sartorial flair to the statement pieces with ruffled hems, textured tweeds & elongated cuffs, Emilio creates a line-up of pieces which will up the oomph factor of any winter wardrobe.

Browse through some of our favourite pieces from Emilio de la Morena‘s AW18 collection and immerse yourself into a world of fashion excellence (we’re already dreaming of chilly temperatures to wear those sublime oversized coats).
