Amanqi Accessories: The Lillian Ismail ‘Handas’ Collection

Influenced by her Islamic Arab background, Lillian translates cultural elements into her jewellery pieces, celebrating both her heritage, as well as local craftsmanship & talent.

Although we don’t consider ourselves experts in the world of jewellery design, we’ve recently had the privilege of discovering some of the most incredible labels to add to our growing jewellery collection (Remember our ‘Hidden Treasures‘?). From All Blues’ eclectic pendants to Misho’s statement earrings, our jewellery box is a treasure chest of beautiful pieces. With Saudi Arabian jewellery designer Lillian Ismail‘s eponymous label, we find another jewellery ‘go-to’.

Influenced by her Islamic Arab background, Lillian translates cultural elements into her jewellery pieces, celebrating both her heritage, as well as local craftsmanship & talent. Dedicating her geometrically designed rings, earrings & brooches to the strong Saudi women, Lillian commemorates the incredible role models who are acquiring strong social roles, all whilst exhibiting their great passion for fashion, style & design.

By drawing inspiration from the simple circle which lays the foundation of many infinite geometric prints, Lillian celebrates the power & impact of simplicity in design.

Lillian’s latest collection, aptly titled ‘Handas’ (translating to a geometrically built design in Arabic), revisits classic Islamic architectural & geometric elements moving beyond the realms of the classic calligraphic motifs that we are familiar with. By drawing inspiration from the simple circle which lays the foundation of many infinite geometric prints, Lillian celebrates the power & impact of simplicity in design, resulting in an impressive outcome.

Contrasting the traditions of her heritage with the influence of contemporary design & Western culture, Lillian has created striking pieces which demonstrate this cultural fusion (the ‘Art-Deco’ inspired elements, like onyx, create an unlikely pairing with the intricately designed geometry). Furthermore, the turquoise & green tones (incorporated through the use of malachite & emerald) express the true identity & vibrance of Lillian’s culture.

Offering a line-up of beautiful jewellery pieces (the green cuffs are most certainly a favourite), Lillian Ismail is definitely the ‘go-t0’ label this fall, for upping your style game (imagine pairing the Lillian Ismail chandeliers with an Esse Vie top for the ultimate soiree #OOTD).
