#AmanqiLoves: Ellie Lines

One of the many exciting things about constantly searching for new and exciting brands to our wardrobes is, that we find ourselves discovering incredible labels with an unparalleled flair of style. Our latest brand crush, Ellie Lines, is exactly that. Launched in 2014, the London-based eponymous label is synonymous with elegant silk pieces which instantly elevate any wardrobe. Intrigued by the brand’s journey, we sat down with Ellie to discuss all things fashion, the impact of social media and her one insider tip for aspiring designers.

The Brand Journey Thus Far

Ellie: Many years working as a fashion stylist I have nurtured my love of dresses. I have always been inspired by the jet-set era of the 60’s and 70’s encapsulated by the photography of Slim Aarons. Over the years I built up a collection of amazing vintage dresses which inspired me to launch the brand. My journey is like nothing I ever imagined…. Although I will say you must learn from your mistakes and move forward without regrets.

The Many Sources of Inspiration

Ellie: I am very much inspired by my travels. Positano and the Amalfi coast never fail to ignite my imagination, as do Miami and LA. Also, even though I am not blessed with being green fingered, I love visiting garden centres for inspiration. I especially love RHS Garden Wisely which is beautiful all year round.

The Impact of Social Media

Ellie: Social media has most definitely helped my brand to reach a wider, global audience. Two years ago we decided to no longer wholesale and sell online and by appointment, we simply could not make the numbers work. Social media definitely helps provide a platform for your online store front.

An Usual Day in Team Ellie Lines’ Life

Ellie: I don’t think there are any two consecutive ‘usual’ days which are the same…! Each day brings new challenges and possibilities.

The Insider Tip for Aspiring Designers

Ellie: 110% dedication and a lot of hard work. Don’t be put off by setbacks, use them to find another way. Have a good support team around you. It helps to not only be creative but have a little bit of maths in your back pocket.

In the words of Curtis Mayfield, “Remember your dream is your only scheme. So keep on pushing.”
