We often find ourselves asking the question, ‘What does it take to create a collection which truly resonates with us?’ Are we looking for a line-up of wardrobe classics, on trend pieces or something innovative & out of the box? In many ways, we’re looking for a bit of each of these components – something conceptually different, which has style value this season and also in the future. It may seem like a tall order, but one of our latest brand crushes easily ticks each and every one of these requirements.
Originally from Algeria, London-based designer Ilyes Ouali brings to life the coolest, on trend silhouettes and designs for his eponymous label. Although only in its first few seasons, the contemporary luxury label is quickly reshaping the definition of ready-to-wear. Contrasting sharp, structured tailoring with dramatic frills & pleats, Ouali is creating dresses, sweatshirts & separates, which are effortless and easy to wear, yet offer just the right amount of statement factor needed.

Using a subtle colour palette of pristine whites, charcoal greys & peachy pinks, Ilyes’ FW17 collection is young & playful, all whilst maintaining the brand’s classic edginess (The petal motif sweatshirt is definitely on our list of fall ‘must-haves’!). Perhaps one of the reasons we love the brand so much, is that each of its pieces are trendy, yet symbolise a timeless aesthetic (Ilyes Ouali has truly mastered the art of creating pieces that imbibe the street style essence).
