Designers We Love: The Longchamp AW16 Collection

In a world on constant information-overload, creative director Sophie Delafontaine’s draws upon natural elements; whether it be through inspiration from animal, vegetal or mineral sources.

When we first heard about Longchamp’s ‘Urban Nature’ concept for their latest AW16 collection, we were instantly curious about this fascinating, new ready-to-wear idea (after all it’s not very often we hear of an amalgamation of nature with our everyday hectic city life). After much probing, we discovered the French fashion house’s innovative new ready-to-wear line and we were sold.

In a world on constant information-overload, creative director Sophie Delafontaine’s draws upon natural elements; whether it be through inspiration from animal, vegetal or mineral sources. As a result, each piece from the collection exudes a sense of peace and calm, as if one is reuniting with their natural self.

Using an array of earthy tones, nature-derived patterns and prints and fluid silhouettes, the collection is warm and familiar, yet equally chic and en vogue. With quirky combinations of materials (think lambskin leather with ecru wool and athleisure nylon with printed rabbit fur), the collection still maintains a playful vibe; add any one of Longchamp’s new coats to your wardrobe and you have your statement ‘it’ piece for the season.

Described as ‘a stroll between city and garden’, the collection skips between both natural and urban lifestyle to create a line-up of pieces which are the perfect additions to your fall/winter wardrobe. Mix the outerwear, dresses, scarves and skirts together or with your wardrobe classics, and you have the answers to all your sartorial dilemmas (from statement workwear to that elegant ensemble for an evening out). Browse through our selection of favourites from the collection, whilst we low-key make a wishlist of all the pieces we have to buy (starting with that sheep and rabbit fur scarf).
