Omani designer, Amal Al Raisi is a buzzing name in the fashion industry and she has been our favourite for quite a few seasons, too. Realising the need for modest styling in the international market, her luxury collection is an unique blend of extraordinary finish, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary taste.
This collection also features long, flowing kaftans and skirts made from soft fabrics blended with symbolic elements; portraying the culture of Oman and its relationship with the rest of the world.
For her SS19 Collection, Amal drew her inspiration from Al Baleed, an UNESCO world heritage site in Oman. In this past, this site was a trading hub between the west and the far east. Similarly, based on this idea, her SS19 collection is a fusion of traditional craftsmanship skills and western wearability. The recreation of traditional patterns is a hallmark of this collection. Featuring traditional designs with a modem twist, Amal pays homage to the diverse history of Oman. Amal’s unique prints features the shapes of the continents to outline the ports historic story along with creating a beautiful nautical backdrop.

The theme of the collection is also evident in Amal’s choice of colours. The colour ‘spiced apple’ is used to depict the desert, blending in intricately with the different shades of green such as eden green, vibrant green and desert sage, along with hues of mellow rose to create a sense of femininity, elegance and sophistication. Elements derived from different countries like India, China and Persia, have been used to illustrate the working of this old port.

The desert rose, merchant scale and a Chinese coin from the Tang Dynasty are a few of the elements that are symbols of her inspiration.
Delicate green and gold coloured sequence are scattered on Kaftans, giving it a touch of luxury and adding embellishments which are Amal’s signature feature. With a touch of femininity and timeless elegance, Amal Al Raisi delivers yet another rich collection that aims to put Oman on the world fashion map.
