Designers We Love: The Oscar de la Renta SS19 Collection

The Oscar de la Renta SS19 collection gives us even more reasons to love the brand.

New York Fashion Week brings with it a cascade of some of our favourite designers displaying their work. One of the shows we eagerly await each season is the beloved Oscar de la Renta.

For SS19, Kim and Garcia draw inspiration from their recent voyages to India, Marrakech, Croatia and Como – giving the collection a truly nomadic vibe. While they took their trips separately, the collection is an easy synergy of both their experiences. From Moroccan kaftans to Indian sari-inspired looks, the collection is all about relaxed silhouettes, and free flowing shapes, with the linen blazers adding the right amount of summer tailoring. Kim and Garcia present a canvas of florals, geometrics and ikats, that act as a visual montage of their travels. The intricate silk prints are a nod to the ‘true’ de la Renta aesthetic, and greatly complement the modernity that the new creative leads offer.

This season brings a new take on traditional de la Renta evening wear, which has always been integral to the brand’s lexicon. Featuring a refreshing colour palette, separates galore (The ikat bustier paired with the black flowing trousers is a stunning sight!), and fringes that soften the silhouettes of evening dresses, the Oscar de la Renta SS19 collection gives us even more reasons to love the brand.
