We’ve been following Dubai-based jewellery designer, Hiba Jaber, for a while now, so we were more than excited to discover the launch of her eponymous label’s debut collection, ‘Intertwined’. Greatly inspired by the cosmopolitan nature & cultural diversity of Dubai, Hiba created this collection with the idea of imbibing a strong message of unity into each piece, particularly emphasising on language.

Using Dubai’s two official languages, Arabic & English, as a basis for her designs, Hiba has created 14 unique intertwined pieces, which are the result of merging two different rings together. In each ring, letters from both languages merge into one another, symbolising cultural unity. Particularly, as Dubai has developed a strong reputation for its strong cultural diversity & harmonious nature, using the nation’s diverse languages emphasises the importance of people from different backgrounds & heritages coming or ‘intertwining’ together to work with their similarities, rather than drifting apart because of their differences.

With a strong message & a deep cultural meaning imbibed into each one of her pieces, Hiba’s designs channel a minimalistic aesthetic inspired by Dubai’s skyline. Contrasting soft lines & sharp edges work together in a synergy to further resonate the symbolism of unity.
