‘Signature’ Oscar de la Renta for SS18

Bold prints, exquisite fabrics and voluminous silhouettes creating an uber-feminine look, are synonymous with the classic Oscar de la Renta style. With the change in creative leads after the legendary designer’s demise, we were all looking to see where the fashion house would go next.

The collection features paint splattered on white and navy button down dresses (making for a playful yet bold look that we love), and white denim co-ords (another favourite).

For SS18, in their second collection as Co-Creative Directors for the esteemed fashion house, Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim turn up the youth factor in their collection by giving a nod to the current streetwear phenomena. The late designer’s signature was featured on coats, jackets and tulle dresses alike, almost as if autographed by the legend himself. Furthermore, the designs are also completely in sync with the emergence of the logo aesthetic.

The collection features paint splattered on white and navy button down dresses (making for a playful yet bold look that we love), and white denim co-ords (another favourite), both of which are a polar opposite of the classic de la Renta style. What we also love about the collection is the versatility of the button downs. One inscribed with a note from Emma Watson and another splattered with metallic silver paint, make for chic, minimalistic dresses, ideal for a bright spring day or for a soiree on a warm summer night.

The late designer’s signature was featured on coats, jackets and tulle dresses alike, almost as if autographed by the legend himself.

With the collection, Garcia and Kim (successfully) experiment with a fresh, more casual aesthetic for the label, while also staying true to the man it was named after; the (gorgeous) delicate, but dramatic dresses are definitely a favourite.
