Post-flight or pre-makeup, nowadays it’s necessary to take good care of your skin, and by that we don’t just mean drinking plenty of water and eating healthy; despite that also playing a big part. Having a set & organised skincare routine especially designed for your skin type, day & night, will definitely show you a gradual change. First thing’s first, if you don’t know your skin type you can test it out with your aesthetician or your local Kiehl’s! My personal skin type is combination skin, oily in my T-Zone but fairly dry-normal in the other areas of my face. Skin problems that I face on a day-to-day basis other than the usual acne is hyper-pigmentation and scarring. This is usually regular for those of you who are more tanned or have higher percentages of melanin in your skin, therefore whenever a scar stays post-pimple for us, it really stays. However, using the right products efficiently will help out with any of those pimples that we shouldn’t be touching in the first place!

Once I established my skin type and its problem areas, I searched high & low for products that worked for me best. This is so important with a skincare routine – changing a product if need-be because it may not be reacting with your skin properly. My first step in my routine is using the Origins GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser. I have bought this cleanser again & again and it has worked wonders for me, the 2 in 1 scrub/cleanser element of the product adds exfoliation to my routine and smooths & refreshes my skin; morning & night. The aroma of grapefruit, lemon and spearmint is also a plus to the radiant glow you’ll receive after using this wash. After using a cleanser, I always put on toner. This second-step is personally important to me because of the pores and texture I tend to find in my skin. If you’re like me and have slightly sensitive or dry skin from time-to-time, then I suggest the Skinfood Royal Honey Essential Toner. Other than toning your skin, this product hydrates and gives you a glow because of the honey extract found inside. Skinfood is a Korean brand that can be found at any of your local Sephora’s (including Sephora online); their masks are highly recommended and work well with any ‘Night In’s’ you have planned. After toning, serums are optional, I prefer going straight to moisturising with my Biotherm Aquasource Gel. This dewy gel suits combination/dry skin best because of its water-like texture and 48Hour hydration. I use small dollops of it around my face, day & night, and let it sink in and soak up my skin before putting on any makeup. An additional step I add to my morning skincare routine is using an eye cream to plump the dark eye-bags I might find. The Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream works best for me, it’s light consistency is comfortable under any eye, and the ingredients of Coffee Beans, Panax Ginseng and Magnolia Extract, also found in my cleanser, restore/reduce/refresh tired eyes.
Overall, my skincare routine that I’ve personally built takes 10 minutes out of my day and leaves me feeling replenished and ready! Any add-ons that I include are the usual mask favourites from Glamglow, Dr Jart and Skinfood.
