Florals? For spring? Not even in the slightest.
As fashion month has come to an end we’ve finally been able to feast our eyes on what are going to be the biggest trends this coming spring/summer and what we should say goodbye to. The runways saw sustainability, bright yellow, sex appeal, biker shorts, giant bags, clashing patterns, feathers and lets not forget the shoes… oh the shoes.
Brands and designers are jumping on the sustainability band wagon. Refusing to use fur, sourcing ethical fabrics and not harming animals is all the rage – finally people are beginning to understand how important sustainability is. Stella McCartney debuted her ‘Future of Fashion’ collection in Paris and it was all about sustainability and giving people alternatives.
It’s time to find yourself a pair of sustainable, yellow biker shorts – its ‘fashun’.
Whilst in the collections of the biggest designers, we were seeing the colour yellow everywhere. Oscar de la Renta had the yellow trend covered, a one-shoulder maxi dress at Pyer Moss was seen and a killer off-shoulder gown at Carolina Herrera told us it’s time to embrace the sun and dive into the richness of yellow this summer.
Now, Celine’s show threw everyone in the fashion world into a frenzy; it was all about sex appeal and a lot of people were not happy about it. Apart from the short sequinned line-up of Celine and honestly the nipple covers at Thom Browne, we were seeing class, glamour and a new take on sex appeal all over the runways. Sheer full length dresses, crocheted pieces and to-die-for Alexander McQueen and Vera Wang dishabille bustiers ruled SS19.
Biker shorts – Street style say hello to high fashion. If you were thinking these guys were a one hit wonder Kim K Instagram post, think again. We saw biker shorts everywhere, and I mean everywhere: YSL, Off White, Marine Serre, Fendi, Roverto Cavelli, even the Chanel show debuted biker shorts (hint hint: if Karl says it’s okay, it’s okay).

Finally, we can put away our micro bags, and our micro bag’s micro bags to rest. Gone are the days where only a lipstick can fit in your bag. Massive bags are here and we’re so grateful! Look no further than Jacquemus, where outrageously oversized bags stole the show. Cowboy boots, to scarf laced up stilettos and platforms, its time to put away your mules and slip on loafers, because those are so 2018 darling.
So that’s a wrap on fashion month, what are you waiting for? It’s time to find yourself a pair of sustainable, yellow biker shorts – its ‘fashun’.
