Designers We Love: The Racil SS17 ‘Rock Legends and Wives’ Collection

In January, we had started the year off by listing the four ‘it’ brands that had made their way on to our sartorial wish list. Amongst those four brands was a London-based design label which we have honestly been obsessed with since the past three seasons; Racil.

Creating line-ups of structured blazers & tailored silhouettes, Chalhoub’s creations have become synonymous with powerful, elegant solutions for the modern-day fashionista.

Established in 2015 by designer Racil Chalhoub, the eponymous label has quickly gained a strong reputation as the leading name in tuxedo dressing. Creating line-ups of structured blazers & tailored silhouettes, Chalhoub’s creations have become synonymous with powerful, elegant solutions for the modern-day fashionista. As the designer herself says, she has been greatly inspired by the Parisian tuxedo, and thus aims to use the designs to create an insight into her world of the ‘Le Smoking’; offering an array of versatile, elegant pieces which effortlessly transition from a daytime ‘on-the-go’ look to an off-duty ‘go-to’.

This season too, the brand does not disappoint. Aptly named ‘Rock Legends & Wives’, Racil’s SS17 collection pays tribute to iconic music legends throughout history, who have had a key role in shaping fashion and culture. From David Bowie to Mick Jagger, the exaggerated silhouettes (Is your summer wardrobe actually complete if you don’t own a Racil power blazer?), opulent use of textures & vibrant colour palette are reminiscent of old-school heritage with a revamped, contemporary twist.

The collection features some of the coolest blazer ensembles which can be worn together or as separates.

Divided into three eras of inspiration, the collection features some of the coolest blazer ensembles which can be worn together or as separates (our eyes are definitely on that yellow velvet blazer). Demonstrating some serious sartorial connoisseurship and design skill, this is one brand that we just can’t seem to get enough of.
