With an increasingly busy schedule & ‘on-the-go’ lifestyle, all we’re often looking for is cool, contemporary ready-to-wear pieces which amalgamate functionality with style. Although it may not seem like much to ask for, we often struggle to find the perfect collection which meets all our requirements. However, we recently found our fall essentials in the form of contemporary womenswear label, Teija.
With a colour palette featuring solid greys & prints, such as stripes & ginghams, each one of Teija’s pieces demonstrate great knowledge of tailoring & craftsmanship.
Established by Royal College of Art graduate Teija Eiola, we instantly fell in love with the clean, simple lines & minimalistic silhouettes (inspired by the designer’s Nordic roots) observed in the Teija pieces. Inspired by both the design used in traditional ateliers, as well as modern tailoring, Teija beautifully combines contrasting elements & skills to create timeless shapes which are universally appealing.

For the AW17 season, the label has once again catered to their muse (‘the ideal intellectual women’) through a line-up of shirt dresses & statement hand-smocked blouses (a brand signature). From pleated details & romantic Edwardian embellishments to subtle ruffles & deconstructed draping, the namesake label has been inspired by Japanese Studio Ghibli’s dramatic yet naive style. A mix of ‘ultra-romanticism with Nordic functionalism’, Teija’s AW17 collection is an amalgamation of the new & the old, with its use of traditional references with contemporary techniques. Coveting many of the statement pieces, we most certainly believe the light blue ruffled shirt & camouflage jackets are fall essentials that everyone needs.
